The Finnish Border Guard is responsible for the border control at Helsinki Airport. Border checks are carried out for passengers traveling outside the Schengen area and returning from there.

Border check for departing passengers is carried out after the security check. Arriving passengers go through the border control after arriving from a flight before leaving the gate area or before transferring to a connecting flight.

In addition to the traditional counters, the border control points at Helsinki-Vantaa Airport have also automated border control gates, using which you do not need to wait in line and can quickly pass through the border.

At the border check, passenger's passport/identity card, boarding pass, possible visa and other required travel documents are generally checked.

You can find more information and tips for traveling and about the border checks on the Finnish Border Guard's website.
