In addition to drinks and other fluids, nearly all cosmetics and a variety of foods are liquids. Liquids include moisturisers, toothpastes, mascaras, aerosols, gels, canned fruit, fish and meat, frozen foods, butters, cream cheeses, yoghurts, etc.


A good rule of thumb is that if you can spread it, it’s liquid.


Regulations for liquids in hand baggage at Helsinki Airport Departures:


New EU regulation limits the amount of liquids passengers can carry in their hand luggage to 100 ml containers when travelling through EU airports, including Helsinki Airport, beginning September 1, 2024. The total amount of liquids allowed in hand luggage at Helsinki Airport will remain two litres per passenger.


Medical liquids, baby food and special dietary liquids may be carried in hand baggage, in the amount needed during the journey. The container size of these products can be over 100 ml.


Note! Hairspray containers of more than 500 ml are prohibited on the aircraft and may not be carried as hand baggage or checked hold baggage.


Regulations for liquids in hand baggage at Finavia's regional airports and at the security control for transfer passengers at Helsinki Airport


In the security control for transfer passengers at Helsinki Airport and in the security control of Finavia’s regional airports, carrying liquids in hand baggage is allowed if the product is in a package no larger than 100 ml and it is placed in a resealable transparent plastic bag no larger than one litre.
